Some people just don't learn from their mistakes. NTAuthority is one of them, not surprising that after having shutdown AlterIW the follow up project/clone is next:

I thought it would be enough that they check if MW2 was purchased on that account :D

They can't shutdown 4d1, you clearly didn't understand the concept of it, just like the idiots from Activision ..

It's not EMULATING ANYTHING

Last time i played MW2, it never had private servers and was just matchmaking... Activision has all rights to take down any software that provides private servers from their game while they don't offer it... It is also considered emulation since it still uses part of MW2 and files from it, regardless of the intent, what the program is supposed to do or if it is a separate install. Plain and simple, you cannot take over the job of activision, those retards should have learned that by now, if they wanted to provide this, they should have contacted activision first. I'm sure they would have had no problem getting an official mod up for the community by the community, but these retards don't know how to handle situations, so let them face court. Anyone to claim it isn't emulation if you are still playing activision's game using some bullshit like this, is a retard, i mean four delta one isn't its own game or intellectual property, it is MW2 still, copyright infringement right there.

Private servers ? Wouldn't call it like that, also: you need an original steam copy of mw2 in order to play

It's basically a mod which allows you to play on dedicated servers, it doesn't emulate ANYTHING from the normal mw2 (not even the IWnet)

it's a legal limbo, and I'm surprised Activision is showing interest again ..

they removed the steam checker thing, you don't need the legal copy of mw2 to be able to play

Wrong, you still need it ..

Though there is a bypass which isn't posted on 4d1 itself (atleast the last time I checked)

Maybe you mix it up with the dlc

no, you can use 4d1 with the skidrow version of mw2, no bypass is needed.

Activision didn't allow this "mod", stop defending this bullshit...It's not authorized.

I agree with toastbrot, i don't even get why they keep saying it's legal on their forums, if it was legal, activision would have made mod tools for the game as other games do, seriously they have no authorization or basis to think they would get away with it.

lol, just saying that some developers are simply to lazy (or for other reasons) to release the modding tools to the community, crytek for example said once, that the tools are too complicated

and the base was/is -> a few weeks after the first release of 4d1, they got a letter from mitchell and kupp, saying that this "emulation of iwnet" is not allowed, but since nothing was/is emulated, NTauthority didn't give a fuck

Also in this C&D they are talking about the "emulated network 4d1" but not about any mods .. and since it's not emulated -> we will see

But since activision is activision, they would probably win at court and NTauthority is likely to just simply close the project, though I doubt it
