you can run "VAGRANT" and "PUTTY" on your windows PC and it is almost like a perfect Linux.
Vagrant -> http://vagrantup.com/
Putty -> http://www.putty.org/
UbuntuBox -> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/VirtualBox
Perfect Linux Machine

That in no way makes it a perfect Linux...
@Gunny:
Short answer: no. xClient needs to use Windows API functions (and some non) in order to run and inject the hack into the game in the first place.
Long answer: Possibly. You could run WINE (or something similar) on the linux rig, and if it features everything the client needs (functions and their internal functionality), it will actually work.
I can confirm xClient runs on linux under wine (have done it before), but have never tried to inject it into a game afterwards, which is where it's most likely to fail.
If it doesn't work, you're stuck with having to reset your hardware id, which is a bit of a bummer :)
Maybe I'll give it a try again myself, since I can get round that for testing purposes.

would be nice if you post here after you tested :)

I'm on call this weekend, so probably won't have a chance to test anytime soon. When I can I will though.
Virtual machines still have pathetic graphics support, so that route would be useless (and wouldn't get round the hwid reset anyway).
+1 for trying :D
