Game Overview

Battlefield Heroes is the next Battlefield game in development by DICE in Stockholm, Sweden. The game is scheduled to be released in summer 2008 as an open beta. Battlefield Heroes is unique for a couple main reasons. The game will run under the Play 4 Free model meaning the game is free to play and funded through advertisements on the game's website and on the start menu of the game. Advertisements will not be present in the maps. Another new feature is the introduction of micotransactions (micropayments), which allow the player to purchase customization items for their character. Clothing items and other accessories will be available for a small fee, but nothing to give a player an advantage on the Battlefield. Since the game is of cartoon style, the system requirements are quite low - 1Ghz CPU, 512 MB Ram, 64 MB Video Card, 500 MB HDD Space.

Looking at the Battlefield Heroes HUD, starting in the top left you have a picture of your character encompassed with a progress indicator telling you how far you have to level up. The number at the bottom of the circle tells you your characters level in the game, which could go as high as 50. As of right now the whole game is played in third person perspective.

At the top center of the screen you have your team's flag and ticket amount and what seems to be a multiplier indicator hence the 2x.

Bottom left corner you have a blue cross indicating your health. A green star, which seems to ability points. Next to that are your weapons assigned in the first 3-4 slots, the rest appear to be abilities.

Lastly in the bottom right corner is your selected weapon and ammo indicator.


xRadar will be released once the game is out of closed beta!

This game is one of those few games where it's actually fun to play. All the classes are well balanced and it's real easy to know if someone is cheating, so be careful when the game comes out. :]
